TokenEditions proudly welcomed Jorge Luis Miraldo, aka Shorsh, a 3D illustrator and art director based in Buenos Aires. Then, his newest collection was Distant Dreamers. Each artwork in it portrays a state of mind, the statue of a head fused with a unique atmosphere of color and sound. Still, the artworks come to life through the subtle animation of their surroundings. Shorsh set each one to an original soundtrack he composed himself.

The Distant Dreamers NFT collection drop

The drop opened on TokenEditions on the evening of July 12, 2022. It was a solo release with five pieces. Four one-of-ones went to public auction, while one open edition carried a lower price for broader access.

Demand moved fast. All four one-of-one pieces sold within hours of going live: Blue Night, Mind Oasis, Ancient Lullaby, AI DR34M. In total, each one closed somewhere between 0.5 and 1 ETH. Crystal Lotus, the open edition, sold at its fixed price of 0.04 ETH per unit. Still, a smaller but steady number of collectors bought in.

The timing wasn’t ideal. Distant Dreamers landed as the broader NFT market was already cooling from its 2021 peak. Even so, the drop performed close to what Shorsh had already been seeing elsewhere. Collectors on other platforms were already buying his work before this release even went up.

One piece didn’t follow the pattern. Still, Ancient Lullaby never sold during the drop. Before shutting down, Token Editions relisted it on OpenSea.

Eventually, TokenEditions shut down after this drop. The original announcement and the live auction pages went down with it.
